JAMS neutral, Hon. Abner J.  Mikva (Ret.), has been chosen by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn to lead the Admissions Review Commission for the University of Illinois to investigate the University’s admissions practices, which allegedly offered preferential treatment for a number of well-connected students.

The Chicago Tribune first reported the existence of a clout list for well-connected students at the University of Illinois in early June and found that some students with prominent family members were admitted after government officials and university trustees interfered with the admission process in their favor.

JAMS, the premier mediation and arbitration provider in the United States and ADR Center in Italy announced an agreement to form what will be known as JAMS International ADR Center to provide mediation and arbitration of cross-border disputes and training services worldwide. The first JAMS International ADR Center will have its offices in Rome and New York with additional hearing locations in Geneva, London and Brussels. JAMS plans to establish a network of international centers to provide the same high quality services for which JAMS has become known.
